Two members of a drug gang who supplied Scarborough with heroin and cocaine have been jailed for a total of nine years.

Daniel Busuttil, 25, of Grange Park Road, Manchester and Jack Fowler, 25, of South Avenue, Scalby, Scarborough, both pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply class-A drugs. They were sent to prison for six years and three years respectively.

The pair were part of an organised crime group that sent heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine and cannabis to the town from suppliers in Manchester.

Nine other people were also sentenced for their roles during the same hearing at Leeds Crown Court on Tuesday June 7.

The offences took place between February 2013 and August 2014 and were investigated by North Yorkshire Police as part of a major operation into organised crime in the region.

Further hearings to recover the proceeds of the offences are due to take place at a later date.

After the gang was sentenced, Detective Inspector Nichola Holden of North Yorkshire Police said: “These individuals deliberately targeted vulnerable drug users in Scarborough, despite the fact their operation was largely based across the Pennines in Manchester.

“But county boundaries are irrelevant when it comes to bringing people involved in the supply of drugs to justice.

“North Yorkshire is a safe county and these convictions prove that we’ll do everything in our power to keep it that way.”

The following defendants were also sentenced for their roles in the gang at the same hearing:
