More than 30 cars have been vandalised in an “utterly mindless” act of “crass stupidity” causing owners hundreds of pounds worth of damage just before Christmas.
Scarborough police are appealing for information after vandals damaged the large number of cars parked in Weaponness Valley Road.
The criminal damage occurred overnight between 8pm on Saturday, December 15 and 9am on Sunday 16.
The attack saw at least 34 cars parked have their wing mirrors vandalised.
PC Sarah Margetts, of Scarborough Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “This is an utterly mindless act of crass stupidity. I urge anyone who witnessed the vandals causing this damage or can help to identify those responsible to contact the police or Crimestoppers straight away.
“I would also like to speak to anyone who may have been a victim of a similar offence and has not yet reported it to the police.”
Anyone who can help with this enquiry is asked to contact Scarborough police on 101, press option 2 and ask for Sarah Margetts.
