Police are investigating a serious road traffic collision in Scarborough.

It occurred at 12.20pm on Friday in Dunslow Road in the Eastfield area. The collision involved three cars and a motorcycle.

A Lexmoto motorcycle, ridden by a 37-year-old local man, collided with the back of a Citroen Berlingo which had stopped behind a Renault Laguna which was waiting to turn right at a junction. It is though the rider of the motorcycle was then hit by a Vauxhall Vectra travelling in the opposite direction.

The man riding the motorcycle suffered serious injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening, and was taken to Scarborough District Hospital where he is being treated.

Traffic Sergeant Trevor Burton, of North Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Group, said: “I am appealing to anyone who was on Dunslow Road at the time of the collision to contact the police as soon as possible.”

Anyone who can assist with this investigation is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Gareth Gilleard. Alternatively, information can be emailed to Gareth.gilleard@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk.
