Police divers are searching the duck pond in Valley Road in an attempt to find the knife used in the Scarborough seafront murder.

Michael Graham, known among friends as Angel, died after receiving stab wounds during an incident near Olympia Leisure, in Foreshore Road, on Saturday night.

A police spokesman said: “Officers from the Yorkshire and Humber Underwater Search and Marine Unit are searching the pond in connection with the murder investigation. They are hoping to recover a knife.”

A 16-year-old youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is set to appear in court this morning charged with his murder.

He has also been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The second charge is in relation to another victim, aged 17, who suffered a serious leg injury during the incident.

Officers are also carrying out their final searches at the murder scene in Foreshore Road and St Nicholas Cliff Gardens.

The area, which has been cordoned off since Saturday night, is due to reopen this afternoon.
