THE trial of the man charged with murdering Scarborough hairdresser Laura Smith was set to continue at Leeds Crown Court today following a two-day delay.
Nigel Pickard, 45, is accused of strangling Miss Smith, 29, following an incident at her home in Southwold Rise, Eastfield.
He denies the charge.
The case has suffered a number of delays, including a power cut and a car accident involving a member of the prosecuting barrister’s family which forced the cancellation of another day. It could not go ahead yesterday either as the judge had to sit on another trial.
