SCARBOROUGH police are appealing for information after a man suffered a mysterious broken leg in the town centre.

The 20-year-old local man was found near the library in Vernon Road just after 3am on New Year’s Day.

He told police he had left the Blue Lounge and was walking towards Vernon Road.

As a result of the incident the man was taken to Scarborough Hospital where he received treatment for the injuries to his leg.

DC Stephen Johnson, of Scarborough CID, said: “It is not clear how the man suffered these injuries.

“However, the man does recall that there were people in the area at the time and it is possible that he is the victim of an assault.”
