Police in Scarborough have launched a man hunt in a bid to trace John Shellard.
Officers are appealing for the public’s help to locate the 22-year-old who is wanted for recall to prison.
Shellard was released from prison on Friday, July 13, but is now wanted for recall as he has failed to live at a specified address which breaches the terms of his release licence.
He was imprisoned in July 2011, for grievous bodily harm committed in October 2010, on Seamer Road, against a 26-year-old local man.
Shellard is white, 5ft 10in tall with a medium build and short brown hair.
He is believed to be in the Scarborough area.
Inspector Mike Fenton, of Scarborough Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: ”Shellard has shown a flagrant disregard for the justice system, having breached the terms of his release licence on the day he left prison.
“If you see Shellard, I advise that you don’t approach him and call the police immediately.”
Anyone who can help to located John Shellard is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1 and pass the information to the Force Control Room.
