Police are hunting a gang of cleaver-wielding crooks, who botched an armed robbery at a Scarborough shop.
The trio burst into the Costcutter store in Wreyfield Drive at around 7pm on Wednesday, brandishing a meat cleaver and an aluminium baseball bat, as they demanded staff empty the till.
But before they could make off the cash, a quick-witted member of staff sounded the security alarm - and the bungling bandits fled empty handed.
Now detectives are investigating the raid and appealing for witnesses who may have seen them fleeing the scene.
The first man is described by police as white and aged in his late teens.
He was wearing a cream hooded jacket, with a blue and white scarf covering his face, dark coloured bottoms and black gloves.
The second man was also white and in his late teens.
He was wearing a black hooded jacket with grey jogging bottoms with white stripes down the sides, and black gloves.
The third man was also white and around the same age as the other two men.
He was wearing a black jacket, a black hooded top and bright orange gloves.
