Wallets, cash and phones are among the typical targets for sneaky thieves, but one suspected Scarborough crook has a slightly different target – pork.
The light-fingered carnivore was captured on CCTV helping himself to an array of meat from the Co-Operative store in Newlands Park Drive.
He pinched three pork joints, six gammon joints and two pork loins during his afternoon trip to the store, as well as five juicy steaks.
But unlike many others who spend their Saturday wandering the aisles of their local supermarket, the mysterious thief made off without paying for his shopping, on November 16.
Scarborough Police, who are baffled by the identity of the alleged shoplifter, have issued a CCTV image of the suspect.
Officers are keen to quiz the man, who was dressed in a camouflage baseball cap and a black coat, who fled the shop.
The offence happened almost two months ago but North Yorkshire Police have only just released the image of the suspect.
Officers are appealing for anyone who recognises the man in the image to contact them by calling 101, select option 2 and ask for PC Steven Normandale. Or you can email email@example.com. Alternatively, if you wish to remain anonymous, you can pass information in confidence to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
