A MAN is in hospital after being shot in the leg at an incident in Eastfield.

Police were called after reports of a disturbance at a property in High Garth.

During the incident a 36-year-old man received a gunshot wound to the leg and is in Scarborough Hospital. His condition is described as stable.

Inspector Leo Suret, of Eastfield Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “This is clearly a shocking incident and one members of the local community will be concerned about.

“However, I would like to reassure residents that we don’t believe there to be a threat to the wider public and we are doing everything we can to locate the other man involved.

“I would urge anyone who has any information about this incident to contact the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.”
