DETECTIVES are still investigating events surrounding a serious assault in East Ayton where a local woman suffered head injuries.

She was yesterday in Hull Royal Infirmary where her condition was described by police as “serious but stable”.

A North Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said inquiries are on-going and a 57-year-old man who had been arrested in connection with the attack in Carr Lane was later released on conditional bail.

The incident took place at a detached property on Sunday evening. Officers were seen, days later, guarding the scene and the home remained taped off during the investigation.

The victim was first taken to Scarborough Hospital for treatment before being transferred to Hull Royal Infirmary.

Her injuries were initially described as “serious”.

It is understood that it was a domestic incident.

Officers from Scarborough Police’s Protecting Vulnerable Persons Unit have been involved in the investigation.
