TWO men stole food from a supermarket in Scarborough before making a getaway on stolen BMXs.

The police yesterday released CCTV images of the two suspects, who entered the Tesco Westwood store at around 3:30pm on June 7.

They stole a sandwich and other food items before leaving and stealing two bikes which had been left outside the entrance.

PC Leanne Wilson, of Scarborough Police, said: “The suspects are quite clearly shown in the CCTV images and I am hoping that someone will recognise them and help us to identify them.

“Not only have they stolen from Tesco, but they have deprived two boys of their BMXs, one of which is quite expensive.

“I am appealing to anyone who recognises the men or witnessed the thefts to contact us or Crimestoppers.”

One of the stolen BMXs is a white GT Fly model with pink pedals, valued at £250. The other bike has a white frame with black forks.

Anyone with information is urged to contact PC Wilson, on 0845 6060247, quoting reference number 12110093415.
