Scarborough ‘boy racer’ hunted after assault

POLICE investigating an assault in Columbus Ravine are looking for a man in a ‘boy racer’ style car.

The victim, an 18-year-old local man was forced to take evasive action to avoid being hit by the car as he crossed the road at about 1.45pm on Wednesday.

The driver of the car, which was black with two distinctive green stripes running from bumper to bumper, stopped in the middle of the road before getting out and punching the victim in the face.

The suspect is described as aged in his early 20s, with fair hair and tattoos on his arms. He was wearing a black baseball cap and a black or blue t-shirt with a collar.

Officers are appealing to anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

PC Paul Rogers, of Scarborough police, said: “This was a cowardly attack which left the victim with a bloody nose.

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or can help identify the person responsible to get in touch with the police or Crimestoppers.”
