Detectives investigating the murder of a 41-year-old man in Scarborough are appealing for information on four men who were spotted near the scene.
The death was reported to police by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service, wich had attended the scene of a serious assault inside an address in Eastborough, at 11.40pm on Wednesday (August 7).
Although the victim’s immediate family have been informed, detectives say they not yet in a position to formally identify him at this stage.
The four men arrested in connection with the investigation, who are aged 29, 34 and two 30-year-olds, remain in police custody for questioning.
Detective Superintendent Dai Malyn, who is leading the murder investigation, said: “If you were in the Eastborough area of Scarborough, between 9.30pm and midnight on Wednesday, I urge you to come forward and contact Scarborough CID straight away as you may have vital information that could help our inquiries.
“I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have seen a group of four men as they left the scene, one of who was wearing a pair of light coloured tracksuit bottoms. It is possible that they dispersed and made their way individually towards Queen’s Terrace, between 11.30pm and 11.45pm.
“Even the smallest detail could be very important. You may think that the information you have is irrelevant, but I urge you to come forward and contact us, so that we can assess its evidential value.”
