POLICE in Scarborough have released this image of a man suspected of being involved in a drug deal on Castle Road.

Two men were stopped by officers after reports that cannabis was being supplied near to the West Riding Hotel at about 6.40pm on Friday September 2.

One of the men was detained but the second man walked away from the officers and was seen on CCTV to pass a small container to a third man - who the police are trying to identify.

Shortly after the exchange, the second man was arrested but the third man continued along Castle Road and passed the container to a fourth man outside Castle Sports Club. The man who received the container was stopped by officers and arrested on suspicion of possessing cannabis.

The third man then made off and police are appealing to the public to help them identify him.

PC Darrel Temple, of Scarborough Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “The image is pretty clear and I believe that someone will recognise the man. If you do, please contact the police or Crimestoppers with information.

“We need to speak to this man and establish what his involvement in the incident was.”

A man, 29, and a 19-year-old man who were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a Class C drug have been released on police bail as enquiries continue.

A 29-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class C drug was given a warning.
