Thieves lift haul of garden ornaments

AN ornamental owl, a five-gallon milk churn and a steel gardening fork were among a haul of items stolen from the back garden of a property in Sycamore Avenue, Filey.

The theft was reported this week after the owners returned to the residence.

Meanwhile, a lock was broken on a shed in Reighton, and on the same day a gas cylinder used for crop scaring was taken from Bartindale Road in Hunmanby.

On Tuesday, a window was smashed at a property in Wide Lane, Speeton and some youths were spoken to by the police.

Finally, a mobile phone was stolen from Filey School swimming pool between 6.30pm and 7.30pm on Tuesday. The phone had been left in the trouser pocket of a swimmer.
