Scarborough Police rushed to a North Marine Road guesthouse this morning (Tuesday) after fearing for the safety of an occupant.

The incident occurred at The Brindley Hotel and a spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “Police were called at 8.30am following concerns for safety of a guest at the hotel.

“On arrival they located a man who had locked himself inside a room and was threatening to harm himself.

“Following negotiations with specially trained officers, the man left the room of his own accord at 11.45am and is currently in police custody.”
