Two suspected burglars described by West Yorkshire Police as among the most wanted in the county have been arrested in Scarborough and Goole.

One of the suspects, a 45-year-old Barnsley man wanted in connection with a series of distraction burglaries, was arrested in Goole yesterday.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said the suspect was "now in custody in West Yorkshire being question after being arrested on suspicion of burglary."

The other suspect, a 35-year-old man from Pontefract, is thought to have been responsible for a number of burglaries across West Yorkshire.

He was arrested in Scarborough in connection with a number of burglaries in Wakefield and was in custody today.

A Facebook post by a local policing team in Wakefield said the men were two of West Yorkshire Police's "most wanted".

The message said: "Both males have been returned to Wakefield and are currently being dealt with by officers."
