Scarborough police are appealing for information after an assault in the town.

It occurred at around 2.15am on Friday 27 December, near the junction of North Marine Road and Clark Street, when a 27-year-old, Scarborough woman was assaulted.

The victim was attacked by two women who initially barged into her. After she challenged their behaviour, the women knocked her to the ground before committing the assault.

As a result of the incident, the victim suffered severe bruising to the face, which needed treatment at Scarborough District Hospital.

PC Jon Kenworthy, of Scarborough Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “I know there were a number of people in the North Marine Road and Clark Street areas at the time this apparently unprovoked and nasty assault took place. If you were there, I urge you to contact the police straight away as you may have vital information that could help my investigation.”

Anyone who can help officers to progress this enquiry should contact Scarborough police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Jon Kenworthy. Alternatively, information can be emailed to Jonathon.kenworthy@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk.

Or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, quoting reference number 12130223546.
