Woman on arson charge

A WOMAN who has been accused of arson appeared in court over the weekend.

Elaine White, 42, of Castle Road, appeared at Scarborough Magistrates’ Court on Saturday morning charged with arson with intent to endanger life.

She allegedly committed the offence on Thursday, at Long Walk in Northstead.

White, who was not represented, wore a black and pink hoodie during the brief hearing. She has not yet entered a plea.

Chairman of the bench Jack Stephenson said the case would be sent to York Crown Court.

White, who appeared in custody, will next appear at York Crown Court on Friday morning.
