AN EAST Ayton woman who suffered serious head injuries in what is believed to have been a domestic incident remains in a “serious but stable” condition in Hull Royal Infirmary.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman yesterday confirmed her condition and said that enquiries were still ongoing.
The serious assault took place at a detached home in Carr Lane on the evening of Sunday May 1, and the victim suffered head injuries during the attack.
A 57-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and he was later released on conditional bail while the investigation continued.
As well as detectives from Scarborough CID, officers from Scarborough Police’s Protecting Vulnerable Persons Unit have been involved in the investigation.
The victim was first taken to Scarborough Hospital for treatment before being transferred to Hull Royal Infirmary for further care.
Officers were seen, during the days following the incident, guarding the scene and the home remained taped off during the investigation.
