NEARLY 150 youngsters are getting ready to mark Armed Forces Day in Scarborough this week.
The young performers from the Scarborough Dance Centre will be taking to the stage at the YMCA Theatre in St Thomas Street for their annual show from Friday to Sunday.
Organisers say the variety performance will be full of song and dance in honour of our Armed Forces and will feature a range of songs, from wartime classics like We’ll Meet Again and White Cliffs of Dover to more modern numbers such as Cheryl Cole’s Fight for This Love.
Professional dancer Sally Beard who runs Scarborough Dance Centre, a not-for-profit organisation based in Durham Street, said: “Rehearsals have gone extremely well and I couldn’t be more proud of the effort that has gone into perfecting this show.
“It should be a great spectacle and we are delighted to be doing our bit to support Armed Forces Day in Scarborough.”
The performances take place on Friday and Saturday at 7.30pm, with a matinee show on Sunday at 2pm. During the three shows there will be a collection and raffle for a military-related charity which ties in with Armed Forces Day in Scarborough.
As many as 10,000 people are expected on Foreshore Road for the town’s third annual Armed Forces Day next Saturday, with displays by The Blades aeronautical team and a Lancaster Bomber among the highlights.
