A loose power cable which hung in the path of traffic caused disruption in Falsgrave Road this morning.
Scarborough Police were called to the incident at Lloyds bank at 7.40am following reports buses were being forced to turn around.
The fire service attended and was able to secure the cable, which allowed traffic to flow freely again.
A police spokesman said: “The cable, which was connected to the bank and another property across the road, was causing a few traffic problems.
“The fire service secured it to a chimney and the National Grid has been called out to sort it out properly.”
