ORGANISERS of this year’s Christmas shoebox appeal are reminding Scarborough people to get their gifts to collection points by Saturday.
Every year hundreds of people across the area donate boxes filled with gifts to help youngsters in Eastern Europe who are less fortunate than themselves.
But the deadline for the final collection is looming so that they can be delivered in time for the festive season.
Ros Dyson, the organiser for the Scarborough area, said: “We are doing well with this year’s appeal. It is important, therefore, that all shoeboxes are into the Drop Off Points by that date.”
Each of the shoeboxes are wrapped in Christmas paper and filled with a variety of items including: crayons, books, soaps, flannels, toys, sweets, hats, scarves and gloves.
Collection points include:
l Shoe Zone, 1 Newborough, Scarborough, YO11 1NA
l Stead and Simpson, 55 Middle Street South, Driffield, YO25 7PS
l Stead and Simpson, 45 King Street, Bridlington, YO15 2DN
l Shoe Zone, 30-31 Prince Street, Bridlington, YO15 2NW
l Stead and Simpson, 12-13 Baxtergate, Whitby, YO21 1BW
l Shoe Zone, 76/77 Baxtergate, Whitby, YO21 1BL.
Last year, more than 500,000 people from across the UK and Ireland got involved.
