Designs become a reality

Scarborough youngsters have seen their flower bed designs blossom into reality after winning a competition.

Gladstone Road Junior School pupils Caleb Sheader and Laura Barker joined Northstead pupil Ella Mapplebeck to help parks staff from Scarborough Council plant their winning designs in Valley Road.

The contest, run by Scarborough in Bloom, had a theme of “My Favourite Flower” to mark the centenary of the Chelsea Flower Show.

Ron Womack, a founder member of the Scarborough in Bloom group, said: “The flower beds will be able to be seen all summer and will be especially good when viewed from Valley Bridge.”

The children were thrilled to see the designs come to life.
