Firefighters have rescued a family dog - after it got stuck chasing a duck around a pond.

Crews from Scarborough were called to Woodland Ravine at around 6.30pm on Friday by the owner of a spaniel dog which had gone through a gap in a fence chasing the duck, and was unable to get out the area.

A fire fighter standing on a triple extension ladder managed to hook the collar of the dog with a long pole.

Officers were then able to attach the dog’s collar and lift him to safety.
