See Scarborough ... in art. Our entries for the Paint the Town competition will be on display at the Art Gallery.

Visitors to the gallery in The Crescent can vote for their favourite painting.

There are a great variety of entries – go along and see what you think. The free exhibition is being held in a ground-floor room at the gallery. You can look around the rest of the museum’s displays for a small fee – and currently on show is the highly-praised Last Stop Scarborough collection of seaside posters.

The Paint the Town exhibition runs for two weeks, beginning Bank Holiday Monday August 26, a day earlier than planned. The gallery is open from 10am to 5pm each day, except Monday September 2. Free admission for under-18s.

“We are pleased to have people’s artwork in the gallry,” said the new chief executive Debbie Seymour, pictured above with editor Ed Asquith.
