GOOD samaritans have contributed to a huge donation which could see new classrooms built in southern Sudan, motorbikes in Guatemala provided for doctors and community workers to travel between villages and a wind-powered water well in Afghanistan.
In the past year, Scarborough Christian Aid raised a total of £28,449.66, with Christian Aid week bringing in nearly £15,000.
This money was largely raised through a sponsored walk in South Cliff, a fair in Scalby, cake stall and house to house collections.
Scarborough Christian Aid Hon Secretary David Bridges said: “We’re delighted with the result and very appreciative of all the support we’ve had. Many people have contributed with donations, running events and publicity, it’s all very pleasing.”
The group is currently raising money for the East Africa food crisis.
