Easter cash boost for cadets

SCARBOROUGH Sea Cadets were out in force on Easter Monday raising funds for their unit.

The youngsters manned a tombola outside the Newcastle Packet and sold cakes, books and bric a brac, raising a total of £323.

The cadets also took part in an Easter egg hunt at their East Sandgate headquarters.

Fundraising co-ordinator Suzanne Halkyard said: “They did really well and there was a great turnout of cadets and parents.

“We were also supported by Eden Springs with a donation of bottled water.” She added that the unit needs to raise £1,000 a month just to break even.
