STUDENT achievements were celebrated in style at Yorkshire Coast College’s annual awards ceremony.
The event was held at Scarborough Rugby Club and more than 30 awards were given out.
The prizes covered a host of skills areas taught at the college including hair and beauty, construction and accounting.
Principal Bonita Hodge said: “There was a really great atmosphere on the night. Lots of people came to support the students including parents, friends and staff.
“The winners were all delighted and some received more than one prize. One of our construction students was presented with three prizes.
“It was also great for staff to be there and see their students receive awards. It really reinforces why they came into teaching in the first place.”
Ms Hodge added that the event highlighted the fact that the students were being recognised for their efforts and contribution to college life, as well as their work towards a qualification.
The event was attended by deputy mayor Helen Mallory and her daughter Lucy, who is deputy mayoress.
The ceremony, which took place on Wednesday, was also supported by the Lions Club.
