IT’S off to a Scarborough charity - and that’s official!

Ellie’s Fund are holding a Wear A Hat Day to raise funds in memory of a former Scalby School pupil.

Organisers are appealing for people to don colourful and creative headgear, Friday March 30, to boost the fund set up in memory of 14-year-old Ellie Othick-Bowmaker.

Ellie passed away in 2010 after a brave battle against a brain tumour.

However, the fund has already raised more than £60,000 and it is currently helping 16 children locally who are undergoing treatment for brain tumours.

Her mum Heather added: “This year is very poignant for us, as Ellie would have been finishing secondary school and celebrating with all her friends.

“It has been a difficult time, so I’m very grateful for everyone’s help and support.”
