THE HEATWAVE may have come and gone, leaving a colder autumn to settle, but it has not put off Bairnswood Nursery youngsters who wrapped up warm for a seasonal sponsored walk.

The group toddle took them along Lady Edith’s Park and Throxenby Lane, with stop-offs en route to collect leaves for a picture, to raise funds for new balance bikes.

Nursery owner Annette Johnstone said the children enjoyed regular walks near the nursery, but that this was their first sponsored outing.

She said: “It was a nice morning on our Autumn Walk. Parents and volunteers came with the children, they enjoyed walking with them as a group and it was good fun.

“Some of the little ones find it difficult to use the big bikes, so we got a balance bike previously where they can sit on it and scoot themselves along, and they enjoyed it so much we wanted to get some more.”
