HAIR and beauty students at Yorkshire Coast College enjoyed an inspirational talk from a Scarborough television and film make-up artist.
Debra Hudson, who has worked on many BBC drama productions and feature films including The King’s Speech, Harry Potter and the forthcoming Captain America, visited the students as part of their skills week.
Not only did the students learn about Ms Hudson’s job and the skills and qualifications required, but they were also shown two demonstrations. One student was made up with make-up wounds while another underwent a full 1960s hair and make-up style. Debbie Day, a hair and beauty tutor at the college, said: “Every year we run a skills week where we bring different people in to show pupils different career choices, and allow them to experience all sides of the industry.
“Debra was great. She talked to them about courses and qualifications she has done in order to get where she is and what the students need to do if they are planning that kind of career.
“The students really loved her visit, they found it very enjoyable and inspirational and we will definitely be inviting Debra back again next year.”
