CHILDREN have reaped the fruits of their labour after joining the grow your own following.

Potatoes, sweetcorn, tomatoes, carrots and more have been on the menu for youngsters at Bairnswood Nursery, along with eggs from their very own hens.

The ongoing project aims to show the infants that supermarkets aren’t the only place to get your greens.

Keyworker Sally Hardy said: “We grew our own vegetables from seed, looking at where food comes from and showing that you can eat what you grow.

“They really enjoyed it, A lot of them were surprised where food actually comes from when we pulled potatoes out of the ground.

“We planted in spring, it’s a bit like a harvest festival, it’s lovely having it all.
