GCSE joy for Scarborough teens

There were tears and cheers in schools throughout Scarborough this morning, as teenagers from around the town picked up their GCSE results.

For many, such as Sonya Bushell, the day is the culmination of years of hard work.

The talented St Augustine’s student, who hopes to be a doctor, landed an incredible 11 A* grades, and is now off to Scarborough Sixth Form.

For some though, it’s signals the end of their school days - and the start of their working life.

However, with pass rates up throughout the town, the majority of pupils will now be preparing to start their A-levels next month.
