SUCCESSFUL Scarborough students went back to the classroom to pass on their wisdom to aspiring pupils.

The former St Augustine’s School youngsters and Scarborough Sixth Form College students visited the school to speak to Year Nine, Ten and 11 pupils about their experience at university.

Jemima Carvill, who is reading English at the University of Newcastle, Alex Wright, currently studying Politics at the University of York and Vincent Varza, an International Relations student at Leeds University, gave an insight into lectures, accommodation and social life associated with higher education.

The trio are all heavily involved in work outside of lecture halls too, with Jemima at the Theatre Society, Alex with Amnesty International and Vincent undertaking work experience at the Houses of Parliament.

Mr Varza said: “My whole education has taught me not to follow the crowd, but go my own way.

“Through that, I have built my own character and my own opportunities.”

Mr Wright said: “University has been an amazing experience, offering countless opportunities.  It has allowed me to further my interests.”

Miss Carvill added: “University has been so great - people just need to go for it.”
