A GROUP of mini Scarborough gymnasts have been awarded certificates after learning new skills.
The youngsters from Scarborough Gymnastics Academy in Barry’s Lane are members of the pre-school class.
They have been learning new gymnastics skills around the theme of “Forest Fun” and completed the unit before the Easter holidays.
The children, aged from one to four years, have now been presented with certificates and badges in recognition of their efforts.
Coach Nikii Walker said: “They’ve worked really hard and have enjoyed themselves, learning basic skills in a fun way so it feels like a game.
“The kind of things they’ve learnt include balancing, jumping, using hand apparatus and items such as bean bags.
“We’ve also done songs based on our theme of Forest Fun.”
A group of 20 children have received the awards after training in two classes: one to two year olds and three to fours.
Miss Walker said: “They absolutely love it. They really get stuck in and parents join in with the classes too.
“Everyone is always really enthusiastic.”
She added that the youngsters have really improved since last term and that the basic skills in pre-school gymnastics will be invaluable when they more on to more advanced moves.
