A new intake of students has settled into life in Scarborough with a number of special events organised to introduce them to the town.

Kicking off last Monday, International Welcome Week saw activities aimed at not only helping students from across the globe settle in to university life, but also to welcome them to the UK.

It was closely followed by Welcome Week, which got underway at the weekend, offering newcomers a packed programme of information and events, including an open top bus tour of Scarborough.

Students returning to the campus to start their next year of study have also been invited to join in the action-packed week, which is designed to involve and introduce everyone across the student community.

University vice-chancellor, Professor Calie Pistorius, said: “I would like to personally welcome all of our new students who are about to start student life, and also to welcome back those returning to our campuses.

“The university is renowned for having a strong relationship with its students, and, together with the Hull University Union, we aim to deliver an outstanding experience to all.

“Welcome Week heralds the start of the new semester when our campuses again spring to life after this summer’s break.”
