A SWITCHED-ON Scarborough student is set to extol the town’s virtues to an international audience.

Pirmin Meir recently completed an Electrical Installation and Electronics course at Yorkshire Coast College.

And now the 16-year-old, who is hoping to spark into life in a new role in his native Switzerland, revealed Scarborough would always have a place in his heart.

Pirmin, who will soon start an electrical apprenticeship, said: “I moved to Scarborough to improve my English and to learn the English terms used in electrical work.

“The tutors at the college have been so supportive and I can now get a job back home.

“I would recommend this route to other learners in my home country, not only because I’ve learned so much but also because my English has improved greatly.

“Scarborough is such a lovely town too.”

Tutor Dean Leith praised Pirmin’s attitude and ability during his time at the college.

He added: “Pirmin studied in Scarborough on his own, which is not easy.

“We have really supported him throughout his time here and he really has progressed extremely well with the course.

“It shows the determination of a young man and he is a real inspiration to other students.”
