STUDENTS at Scalby School enjoyed a day training up with the RAF as part of their BTEC public service class.

The Year 11 pupils enjoyed a range of engaging and challenging team building activities delivered by Corporal Stuart Gray and the RAF Motivational Outreach Team.

The session aimed to develop leadership and communication skills essential to a role within the armed forces and applicable to a range public sector careers.

Aiden Pope, a student at the school, said: “It was a really good team building experience and it helped me be co-operative and made me think about the team not just myself.

“It was also great to be working with people who do this for a living and because they didn’t know us we had to prove ourselves because they expected really high standards like you would need in the RAF.”

The session was held on the BTEC public service Immersion Day which enable students to spend the whole school day focusing in a single subject area.
