MUMS-TO-BE can get their hands on a bargain at a maternity and baby equipment sale taking place next month.

St Luke’s Church in Stepney Drive and its weekly service for tots, Toddler Praise, is inviting buyers and sellers to a maternity and babywear table top sale on Saturday June 11 from 1-4pm.

Events organiser Rachel Ferneley came up with the idea after she fell pregnant with her son Simeon.

She said: “When I was expecting him, I realised there was actually very little that gave people the opportunity to buy and sell second hand items.

“People are always wanting to get rid of old stuff, and in terms of maternity wear, there’s not much in Scarborough where you can do this. I thought I would do it when my child is older.”

A year on and Mrs Ferneley is sticking to her plan and hopes more sellers will come forward.

She added: “It’s open to everyone. It’s a sale aimed at maternity and babywear items, not just clothes but toys, bedding, TENS machines; things people require through maternity and when they have a new-born baby.”

Anyone interested in hiring a table should contact Rachel on 01723 362740, proceeds will go towards the church and the mums and tots group.

On the day there will be musical entertainment for pre-schoolers and a raffle and refreshments.
