Storytime chance for Scarboro’ children

FAMILIES in Scarborough are being urged to get on board for the Bookstart storytime celebrations.

More than 40 transport and journey-themed events, storytelling, singing and rhyming sessions will be taking place across the county in libraries and children’s centres for this year’s “All Aboard” National Bookstart Week from June 6 to 12.

The Bookstart Bear will also be putting in a special appearance at some of the parties to share in the fun with local families.

Scarborough Library will host a teddy bear’s picnic from 1.30pm to 2.30pm on Monday June 6.

An All Aboard Storytime event will take place at Scalby Library from 2.15pm to 3pm the same day, at Eastfield from 2pm to 2.45pm on Tuesday June 7, Filey from 1.45pm to 2.45pm the following day, and at Ayton from 2.15pm to 3pm and Hunmanby from 2pm to 3pm on Friday June 10.

Derwent Valley Children’s Centre in East Ayton holds a Let’s Play event from 9.30am to 11am on Monday June 13 and a Baby Weigh & Stay from 1.30pm to 2.45pm later that day.

Briercliff Children’s Centre will then host an event called Baby & You from 1pm to 2.30pm on Tuesday June 14.

Bookstart aims to help every child under five to develop a lifelong love of books, offering families the chance to discover the joy of sharing stories, books and rhymes.
