TRAVEL and tourism students have handed over cash which will buy much needed equipment for Scarborough Hospital’s children’s ward.
The Yorkshire Coast College students raised the money by organising a James Bond themed evening at the Grand Hotel in May.
The £416 will pay for otoscope equipment, which is used to look inside children’s ears.
Tutor Susie Holdsworth said: “The students decided themselves to donate the money to the children’s ward - I think a few of them had little brothers and sisters who have been treated there.
“It is brilliant that the money has gone towards a specific piece of equipment so they can see the effect they have had.
“The students have finished now and a lot of them are going to university in September, so this was a brilliant way to sign off.”
The students have now completed their level three National Diploma in travel and tourism.
At the James Bond themed event, students transformed the Grand Hotel into a Casino Royale, with gaming tables donated from the E Casino in Newborough.
