SIXTH Form College students showed they were hot stuff when facing ‘dragons’ from the local business community.
Modelled on the television programme Dragons’ Den, business students pitched their invention ideas to representatives from HQ Entertainment, Spectrum Cleaning Solutions, Asquith & Co and Richard Wood Photography, who then quizzed each proposal.
Richard Cotterill, head of business and economics said: “The standard of the presentations was outstanding, with many teams having carried out detailed market research.
“The intensity of questioning from the Dragons was high, but most students coped exceptionally well.”
Robert Lazenby of HQ Entertainment added: “There have been some great ideas which were presented very well. It’s fantastic that the Sixth Form College forges links with local businesses; it gives the students a real insight into how the business world really works.”
Prizes were awarded for the most outstanding pitches and five students will go on to meet real Dragon Theo Paphitis in October.
