SCARBOROUGH Sixth Form College was given a taste of Scandinavia as it was visited by a group of Swedish exchange students.

A total of 31 students from Ostersund in Sweden were hosted by college students for one week at the end of September.

As well as attending lessons at the college, both sets of students spent a day In Dalby Forest where they mountain biked, walked and attended the Go Ape attraction.

The Swedish teenagers also surfed and visited York.

The colleges have been involved in the link-up for a number of years.

The English students are set to visit Sweden in February 2012, where they will experience a winter wonderland, as Ostersund is only around 200 miles from the Arctic Circle.

Ostersund is the 24th most populous city in Sweden, with a total population of around 60,000.

It was the only Swedish city founded and chartered in the 18th century.
