SCHOOLCHILDREN rounded off their latest topic with cream teas, croquet, music and other delights at a summer garden party.

Parents of Year 3 and 4 children at Lindhead School were invited to join in celebrations where pupils presented their work on English Country Gardens.

Year 3 teacher Gillian Hardwick said: “The children have been learning about Sewerby Hall and designing gardens, animal habitats and other types of gardens.

“It’s the first time we’ve done a garden party. The children made their own sculptures of animals and gnomes, they made riddles for the garden and mazes for the adults. ”

The youngsters also did a country dancing performance for the rest of the school and Mrs Thompson’s Year 4 class recited a poem.
