TALENTED pupils from a Scarborough school mixed the old with the new during a special dance performance to showcase their skills.
The Year Three and Year Four youngsters from Lindhead School fused ballet and street dancing together in a concert with a difference.
Putting their ability to the test, the 17 children impressed their parents with their energetic routine and dance teacher and teaching assistant, Jan Arnold, said their moves had proven extremely popular.
She said: “We have been running the after school club for a while now and usually a different year group takes part every month.
“They practice one day a week for nine weeks before holding a performance to show off what they have learned.”
Ms Arnold said the decision to put ballet and street dancing together - normally regarded as polar opposites - had worked very well and allowed the children to focus on something they liked.
She added: “Street dancing is very popular with the children at the moment and it gave them the chance to do something different.
“They really enjoyed all of the dance clubs that we have had and loved performing to their parents which was very exciting for them.
“The club is very popular and we allow different age groups to take part allowing everyone the chance to have a go.”
