NURSERY children are getting into the beat with the help of a professional musician.
Developing musicality, rhythm and life skills are on the agenda at Seamer Pre-School which has teamed up with Spa Orchestra’s Kathy Seabrook, to deliver classes working with the youngsters.
Pre-school supervisor Ginny Wilkinson said: “We’ve been having Kathy come in over the course of the last term. We’ve got lots of buys in the group, they’re quite musical and have shown some degree of strength in the area.
“They experience the fact she can play a variety of instruments. It’s been a real good thing to have at pre-school, it’s done on a basis it helps all children develop skills in later life.”
All 63 children have been involved in the sessions which have now become a permanent fixture.
She added: “It’s music and movement; Kathy introduces new musical instruments, she plays for them so they can dance, she gets them all involved in the activity - it all adds to strength of character and independence. It’s been very popular; the children are now asking when she comes again.”
