MISS Scarborough Eleanor Hardie ‘enlisted’ for the day to help raise funds for a forces charity.

She joined fundraisers for the local branch of Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association in the Brunswick Shopping Centre.

Head of regional fundraising Julia Clark said £619 was collected; “That is an amazing amount. The generosity of local people never fails to astound. Wonderful support was shown to the guys in uniform, it was brilliant.”

The SSAFA flag day in Scarborough was one of 96 being held nationwide.
