A Scarborough woman is gearing up for a sponsored sea swim which will take her from the Sea Life Centre to the Spa.

Emma Smith, 44, who works at Morrisons, has epilepsy and is registered disabled. She is an experienced long-distance swimmer and did her first sea swim from Scalby Mills at the age of 21.

She will take on the three-mile challenge in aid of the National Aids Trust on August 16 and has been training hard at Scarborough Indoor Pool.

On the day Emma will be accompanied at sea by a support boat and lifeguard. She said: “The training is going well and I’ve had lots of support. I’m not nervous - I’m looking forward to it and want to raise as much money as possible.”
